God Cares

I went to bed a little earlier than usual on Saturday night because I didn’t feel quite ‘right’. I had been babysitting my two grandchildren who are two and a half and one year old for the whole week, and I needed my energy!

I started hearing gurgles in my stomach, waves of nausea that went up and down at an unrelenting pace and then the inevitable dive for the bathroom. At six o’clock in the morning Charlotte the two year old, woke up and wanted to know what I was doing? I said I wasn’t feeling very well so she then asked if I had a headache? I guess this must be what her Mum must say!

So I replied, “no, I have a tummy ache.” At that moment, the thought of having to look after my two grandchildren for the day was pretty daunting. How was I going to care for them, change their nappies, feed them etc? I started thinking of all the problems but God already had the answers. How blessed I was when two of my daughters offered to look after the children until the afternoon to give me time to sleep and regain my energy.

Lying in bed later I thanked God for my family and His provision and I realised how I often don’t recognize My Heavenly Father being there for me. So often we look at our situation and only see the problems. We need to remember He HAS and IS all the solutions!

1 Peter 5:7 says Cast all your anxieties upon Him, for He cares for you.

This scripture verse reminds us that God cares about us – even in our stomach growling and toilet flushing times – and He can provide for us. We are often anxious about so many things in our life that we forget to go to GOD with them.

In Matthew 6:25 it is stated even more clearly,

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.

This includes worrying about who is going to look after my grandchildren while I’m unwell!!  GOD IS CONCERNED about even these little incidents in my life and wants to CARE for me then as much as in the BIG incidents. The scripture goes on to say,

Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds for them. Are you not WORTH much more than they?

God has already designated our WORTH. He sent His ONE and ONLY SON to die for US. That’s how much we are WORTH to HIM. So my day of gastro has taught me a few lessons.

Firstly, God wants us to have such a relationship with Him where we share everything with Him and trust in His Love and His ability to provide. HE IS THE ALMIGHTY. This means that all I have to do is humble myself and call out to Him. God put me in a very ‘humble’ position on the toilet! Thank God I called out for His help.

Secondly, why do we worry when it never helps the situation?  Instead give your cares to Him and see what HE does? He amazes me every day in what He does for me, how HE shows His love for me. I pray that I may always stand in AWE of Him.
