MARY PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR SON MARTIN WHO IS FINDING THINGS VERY HARD LIVING AWAY FROM US.

What about when you call upon Mary, every saint and person that you know and the person that you love still suffers and eventually dies from the cancer you prayed that they would be healed from? This experience makes me question many things. Maybe we should pray for acceptance. Maybe miracles do happen but they are the exception rather than the rule.

Lina I too have had this happen and been left wondering. Now I pray for Gods will He answers each prayer I believe for the very best for each person and situation. God bless Lois

Prayers so often are for outcomes WE want. We pray without knowing God’s plan for us and our loved ones. I think Lina’s suggestion of praying for acceptance of God’s will can help ease the pain of losing a loved one, after all, we don’t know God’s plan for our loved ones who have left their earthly life.

Many of us would regularly pray “..Thy will be done on earth …” from the Our Father – the prayer our brother Jesus taught us (Matthew 6:9-13) . I’m guilty of reciting the words without thinking about the meaning, without realising that I’m praying for God’s will to be done.

Trust in God, surrender to His will and be at peace

Sounds like you’re hurting right now, Lina. I’m so sorry. You know, miracles are happening all around us all the time. Life itself is a miracle. When our prayers are not answered in the way we’d hoped, we have to remind ourselves that God’s will must be done, not our own, and that, unlike us, God knows all: past, present and future. The ability to accept God’s absolute sovereignty in all situations is an excellent thing to pray for. I wish you peace and joy in God’s unending grace and love.

Thank you Lois, Cathy and Louise for your thoughtful replies. It does hurt when people are taken way too soon. Sometimes it’s impossible to understand how that could ever be for the best. I hope that in time I and other people in my situation will come to a better understanding and acceptance of God’s will. I will meditate on your words. God bless you all and THANK YOU.

As a Pastoral Care practitioner, in a hospital, my colleagues and I gather each morning, to pray, before we commence work. ….. (Staff, patients and visitors, all welcome to attend, and join in).
Some pray aloud, others in the silence of their heart……… I cannot express, the solidarity, and empowerment felt, knowing that our individual prayer is shared, and supported by others. Together we share and become one, in the power of prayer.

Once again Bruce a very compelling message, the number of times I have been confronted by people who claim that we worship saints etc, however it is always a pleasure to re a firm that we are interceding through these holy people with our prayers.
